How to activate new iPhone at&t

If you bought your iPhone through AT&T

A new iPhone purchased through AT&T must arrive with the SIM card installed and activated. However, if it was not, you should be able to activate it directly on the phone. (Note: Do not use these instructions if you are transferring a phone number from another provider or if you bring your own unlocked device).

There are 2 options to activate your mobile device: one is to visit the AT&T web-based activation tool; The other is to connect your phone to your PC and open iTunes. (Be sure to get the latest version of iTunes by downloading it from Apple.)

With the AT&T online tool, the first click on “Activate your device”. You will be asked for your mobile phone number and your postal billing or shipping code. Enter the information as it appears in your AT&T documentation and click Continue. You will then be prompted to confirm a couple of numbers: your IMEI and ICCID / SIM numbers.

To find them on your iPhone, open the Settings application and first go to General> about. Scroll down to place both numbers towards the end of the list and compare them with the numbers that AT&T provides to confirm that they match.

1. You can also find your IMEI number by dialing * # 06 # on the keypad in the Phone application. Follow the remaining instructions to complete the activation of your device.

2. If you are using iTunes, you should be able to follow the instructions on the screen to activate your phone.

Over the phone

These are the steps to follow it:

  1. Call 1-800-331-0500. From another phone that works, dial 1-800-331-0500 and wait until you connect to the AT&T customer service line.
  2. And then say “I would like to activate my iPhone”, when prompted. When you call, an automated system will ask “How can I help you today?” Speak clearly and say you’d like to activate your iPhone.
  3. Tell them the phone number of your AT&T account. When asked “what number are you calling to activate”, it clearly says your phone number. This will help the automated system access your account information.
  4. Verify the phone number. The automated system will tell you the phone number and you can confirm “Yes” or “No” if it is correct or not.
  5. Talk to an agent. After verifying your number, you will be connected to an AT&T agent that will help you complete the activation process of your iPhone.

Before you start

Before starting the activation process, there are some things you should know.

  1. Verify that your phone is unlocked. You can see an AT&T agent check for you.

  3. If your phone is from another provider such as Sprint, be sure to unlock it before attempting to activate it.
